She showed the audience the public service announcements that the Church has created to depict moral values, such as “Love and Help Children” as well as some of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, such as “We are all born free and equal.”
The entertainment included a German gospel choir whose depiction of old and new Negro spirituals brought cries of “Amen” from the multi-faith, multi-ethnic audience; and a troupe of African dancers and drummers whose high energy and excellent choreography brought the guests to their feet.
The Tribute Awards, proclaimed annually in celebration of Black History month, have become a showcase of hope, faith, courage and conviction for community leaders, people of faith, educators, and artists alike.
